Local artists are invited to participate in this year’s OFF THE WALL exhibition at the Museum of Art and Culture, yapang.

This year’s theme is Celebrate with MAC yapang and we invite artists to submit works showcasing Lake Macquarie as a unique and vibrant destination.

During the exhibition period, artwork will be available for purchase directly off the wall making OFF THE WALL the perfect option for that hard to buy for person, or one-of-a-kind gifts.

Key Dates:

  • Submissions open until canvases are sold out. 
  • Tuesday 10 December - Sunday 9 February 2025: Exhibition on view at MAC yapang.
  • Friday 13 December: Join us in celebrating the opening night of exhibitions Keg De Souza and Interfacial Intimacies.
  • Tuesday 11 February - Sunday 23 February 2025: Collect unsold artwork  

How to participate:

  • Pay your canvas fee of $10 by cash or card and register your expression of interest at the Visitor Services desk at MAC yapang. On receipt of payment you will be issued with a canvas and artwork registration form.
  • Use the issued canvas to complete your artwork and return to MAC yapang with registration form by Sunday 8 December 2024.
  • It is a condition of entry that all artwork displayed be for sale at a set price of $120. MAC yapang will take 25% of any artwork sold. Artist will receive $90 including any applicable gst.
  • There will be a limited number of canvas available. Canvas will be issued based on first come.

Please note: 

  • MAC yapang reserves the right not to display artwork.
  • MAC yapang reserves the right to alter the exhibition conclusion date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I enter more than one artwork into the exhibition?

Yes, artists may enter more than one artwork for exhibition and sale. Each canvas will require a $10 fee paid.

 

Can I use my own canvas?

No. Only the MAC yapang issued canvas will be accepted for the purpose of this exhibition.

 

Are there any restrictions to medium?

Artwork should not exceed more than 1KG in weight and must be created on the issued canvas. The choice of medium is up to you.

 

Can I set my own price?

No. Artworks in this exhibition will have a set price of $120.
MAC yapang will take a 25% commission on any sale and artists will receive a payment of $90 including any applicable gst.

 

I want to participate, where will I find inspiration?

Try starting with the MAC yapang sculpture park and grounds. With spectacular views of Lake Macquarie, local flora and fauna and nearby streetscapes there are plenty of options to showcase what makes Lake Macquarie special.

 

Are there age restrictions?

Artist must be over the age of 16 years to participate. Artists under the age of 18 years will require a parent/guardian to complete form/payment information.

 

How will I receive payment if my artwork is sold?

To receive payment artists will be required to complete online setup via LMCC. This information will be provided to the artist after sale of artwork.

 

What if my artwork isn’t sold?

You will get your artwork back! Artists will be required to collect any unsold artwork by Sunday 23 February 2025.
