The Museum of Art and Culture Lake Macquarie, yapang (MAC) has state-of-the-art facilities for a wide range of purposes from weddings and corporate events to art classes, lectures and residencies by visiting artists and academics.

MAC is a unique arts and cultural destination situated in a magnificent lakeside location overlooking the Sculpture Park, Marmong Point Marina and extensive leafy grounds.

As a long-established arts and cultural venue, MAC attracts and develops a high quality range of exhibitions and programs that are lively, engaging and inspiring.

MAC is available for private hire for your special functions or events including cocktail parties, meetings, dinners, ceremonies, small conferences, product launches or presentations.

There are a variety of spaces with different features and capacities inside and outside of the venue.

MAC tours

Make your event even more memorable with a guided tour of the Sculpture Park or current exhibition by one of our MAC team members. Engage with the artwork and learn more about how artists think.

On request, our Lifelong Learning and Education team can customise lectures, workshops or even a life drawing session to give your event a unique flair.


Catering can be engaged directly by the hirer in consultation with MAC. Onsite catering options are available through Three Bears Cafe, including COVID safe options.

Sculpture Park

Visitors take great pleasure in a leisurely walk in the gallery grounds overlooking the beautiful Lake Macquarie, while viewing works by established artists such as Richard Tipping, John Turier, Janet Laurence and Jamie North. Guided tours of Sculpture Park are available on request.

Shop MAC

At shop MAC you will find high quality handcrafted jewellery, glassware, ceramics, bags and textile accessories by local and national makers. shop MAC supports artisan made, the Local Indigenous Art Code program, sustainability/ eco-friendly, fair trade and Australian made. This means you can purchase with peace of mind; knowing your environmental impact is low, and your social impact is meaningful.

shop MAC can be open during your event for those inspirational gift purchases, extending your MAC experience.

Getting Here

The Museum of Art and Culture is located at the end of First Street, Booragul, on the edge of Lake Macquarie. MAC can be reached easily from the lake foreshore cycleway, the water or by public transport. Ample car parking is available adjacent to Hunter Rowing Club.
