The Museum of Art and Culture Lake Macquarie, yapang (MAC yapang) is uniquely positioned within a seven-acre Sculpture Park on the shore of Lake Macquarie, Australia's largest salt-water lake. The award-winning art museum has a cafe, retail shop and sculpture park. MAC yapang is an ideal destination for visitors.
Guided tours are available for small and large groups.
Admission to MAC yapang is free.

MAC yapang access notice: Monday 12 May - Friday 16 May 2025 

Road access to the Museum of Art and Culture, yapang will be restricted from Monday 12 May to Friday 16 May due to electrical and plumbing works.

Pedestrian access will remain open during MAC yapang’s opening hours, and nearby parking will still be available.

Pets and MAC yapang access

MAC yapang has three tether points around the exterior of the building where dogs can be secured during your visit to the art museum. Water bowls for dogs are located within close proximity to these tether points. Please refer to the map below for tether point locations.

There is a leash free area along the waterfront in front of MAC yapang where pet owners can walk and exercise their dogs off the lead.

Guide dogs are permitted inside MAC yapang.

Group tours

MAC yapang is an ideal destination for visitors and guided tours are available for small and large groups on request. There are bike racks and plenty of parking for cars and coaches.

Getting here

We are located at the end of First Street, Booragul, on the edge of Lake Macquarie. MAC yapang can be reached easily from the lake foreshore cycleway, the water, or by public transport. Ample car parking is adjacent to Hunter Rowing Club.

Access and parking

Parking is available in the car park next to the Teralba Amateur Sailing Club and along the foreshore in front of Booragul Public Wharf.

Accessible parking and pathways are available at the MAC yapang entrance.

There is bike parking available on site.
