Lake House Artist Residency

LMA Residency.jpg

The Lake House Artist Residency program is an initiative of Lake Macquarie City Council. It offers artists, curators and creatives the space and time to create and develop new work.

The first of its kind in Lake Macquarie, and only the second in the Hunter region, the Lake House aims to provide an environment for national and international creatives to develop their practice and contribute to Lake Macquarie’s creative ecology. It is expected that artists in residence will participate in local arts and cultural events in Lake Macquarie City during their stay.

The Lake House is a fully furnished residence accommodating up to six, with three bedrooms and a small studio space. It is located in beautiful Speers Point, a leafy suburb nestled beside the largest coastal saltwater lake in the southern hemisphere.

All residencies will be open to individual creatives as well as groups or collectives, depending on availability.

Artist Residency Programs

Council offers two Artist Residency programs:

  • Self-funded
  • Council-funded

Three Council-funded residencies of seven days duration are offered each year at the Lake House. Each residency is valued at $2000 and includes accommodation plus a modest per diem of $150 per day.

The Lake House Council-funded residencies have now closed for 2024. Applications will open in late 2024 for 2025 residencies. If you are interested in a self-funded residency, please contact [email protected].
