Tickets are timed ticketing. If a concession or companion card is used for your booking please have your card ready to show at entry.
Tickets are timed and single entry for the Archibald Prize 2022. Session entry is staggered, timed on the hour and half hour for ease of viewing. Visitors are not limited by the amount of time they spend in the exhibition. The recommended viewing time for the exhibition is 45 minutes.

Parking is limited and it is recommended visitors plan for wait times and walking distance from parking to MAC yapang. Please see the map below for parking locations surrounding MAC yapang.
Please note, parking locations indicated on the map alongside the lake are downhill from MAC yapang and visitors should expect an uphill walk of approximately 100 - 150m. Accessible car spaces are located close to the entrance of MAC yapang. Please refer to the map below for accessible car spaces.
• The nearest train station is Booragul, followed by Teralba on the Central coast and Newcastle line. Please visit Transport NSW for train times. It is a short 20min walk from the train station to MAC yapang
• Walk or ride to MAC yapang via the Lake Macquarie foreshore pathway from Eleebana, Warners Bay or Speers Point. Limited bike parking is available at MAC yapang. Please refer to the map below.
• Hire a BEAM bike or scooter
MAC yapang has an onsite café Three Bears Café, which will be open for extended hours (9am - 5pm, last orders 4.20pm) during the Archibald Prize regional tour.
The cafe will be open for bookings only, with take away options available. Sittings are timed for 1.5hrs per booking. There will be a coffee cart available on the terrace at MAC yapang from 8am - 4pm during the Archibald Prize 2022.

No food or drink is permitted in the exhibition space.
Yes. Guided tours are available at 11am each day and visitors who are attending this session time are welcome to join the tour. 2pm guided tours will also be provided by an art museum staff member on Wednesdays, and on Saturdays and Sundays by a volunteer, and 2pm ticket holders may opt to join these tours.
Visitors may also wish to undertake a self-guided audio tour using their own mobile phone device by scanning a QR code, which will be on display in the MAC yapang foyer. Please enquire with MAC yapang customer service staff if you need assistance with accessing audio tours.
Audio tours are available for this exhibition by using your own device. Visitors can access the audio tour by scanning a QR code on display in the MAC yapang foyer. Please bring earphones to listen to the audio tour. shop mac will also have earphones available for sale. Group bookings are available through the booking portal. Discounts apply for groups of 10 people or more, and guided or self-guided tour options are available. Online bookings only.

Tickets are non-refundable, however should you no longer be able to attend your planned session time you can request a transfer to an alternative session time if available.

All 52 finalists works from the Archibald Prize 2022 will be on view at MAC yapang from 8 April – 21 May 2023.
The Young Archie runs alongside the Archibald Prize and is a celebration of young Australian talent – inviting artists between the ages of 5 and 18 to submit a portrait of ‘someone who is special to them and plays a significant role in their life’.
