Art in the Community: Refractions: Diversity From Within

Glasswork For Socials Feb 2022-4.jpg

About the exhibition

A melting pot of styles, techniques, abilities and connection - this exhibition celebrates diversity while sharing the beauty that comes from fusing art and community.

In line with the 2022 'Glass' theme for STEAM week, local Glass Art Teachers and their Supported Students have collaborated to create a skillfully crafted body of work made exclusively from glass.

A truly alchemic medium glass can be broken, cut and even pulverized into powder. Into the kiln goes fractured shapes, sharp edges and intimidating shards. From the fire emerges cohesive works of art rich in colour and illuminated by light.

Artworks are on display from 14 August - 28 August 2022. All work is available for purchase from the Gallery Shop.

About the artists

We are a small group of artists with disabilities who have been brought together at Art Mania studio. Through the friendly and supportive family of Art Mania and their belief and practice of inclusiveness, we have been coming together, at the studio to create art.

Art Mania has been and continues to be a place that encourages artistic expression, inclusiveness and allows us a space to be heard. We all have different disabilities and background, but our art allows us all to have a voice and be heard.
