Awaba House Revitalisation

A unique dining destination is coming to Lake Macquarie, with Awaba House in Booragul expected to re-open its doors like never before.

The 19th century gem is rising from the ashes after it was badly damaged by fire in 2019, promising an unparalleled dining experience.

Located adjacent to the Museum of Art and Culture yapang (MAC yapang) the site blends rich history with modern art, offering a unique culinary experience.

The project will deliver a vibrant dining experience for the city while creating a major drawcard for visitors and locals alike. It will include:

  • a function room overlooking the lake
  • a terrace area for outdoor dining
  • a kitchen and cafe space
  • a ceremony area
  • new footpath and landscaping

Changes to MAC yapang Access

Construction has commenced on the revitalisation of Awaba House. MAC yapang will still operate as normal, however there will be some changes to the entryway of the art museum during this time to ensure the safety and ease of access for our visitors.

Main access will be along a lit accessible walkway from the disabled parking area to the front entrance of MAC yapang. Please observe on site signage when visiting MAC yapang for access information.

Stay up to date with all the latest developments in the revitalisation of Awaba House.
