Young Dobell exhibition 2025

Community enjoying art exhibitions at art gallery Museum of Art and Culture yapang Lake Macquarie

Young Dobell is an exhibition of finalist works from the Young Dobell Art Competition.
Artists aged 5 - 18 from Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Maitland, the Hunter, and the Central Coast were invited to submit work into the Young Dobell art competition.

Sir William Dobell was a three-time Archibald Prize winner who lived in Lake Macquarie and was known for his portraits and landscape artworks. His beloved pet dogs were also a favoured subject matter for Dobell.

The Young Dobell competition participants were encouraged to create either a portrait of a person or pet who plays a significant role in their life, or a landscape artwork of a place that is special to them.
