Considered from the perspective of women artists, these contemporary prints address issues of social debate. A gallery project in collaboration with the Print Council of Australia, curated by Akky van Ogtrop.
Voiceover is a survey of contemporary prints drawn from the PCA Print Archive Collection. Considered from the perspective of women artists, the prints selected for this exhibition address issues of social debate of their time.
The Print Council of Australia’s work significantly promotes printmaking as a valid art practice, and through its annual and project-based commissioning program, markets printmaking as an affordable and collectable art form. The works selected for Voiceover, from the Council’s collection, explore the possibilities of printmaking as social comment. The voices of the women represented are distinct and strong, while the replicable nature of the print allows the works to be distributed widely, with potentially greater impact than a single artwork.
