Gregory Pryor: Botanik

18 pryory drawing.JPG

Gregory Pryor is well-known for his use of botanical themes to explore cultural and environmental issues.

From a background in painting, Pryor’s practice has evolved into many different areas, including drawing, video, performance and object-based work. Travel has always played an important role; and in 2003, after many years travelling and making work about his experiences in Europe and Asia, he moved from Melbourne to Perth and began to explore the visual language of the country in which he was born.

As evidenced in the two works comprising this exhibition, Pryor’s work could be seen to be in constant oscillation between the museum and the field.
