First Class 23 opening celebration

In celebration of the opening of the highly anticipated First Class 23 exhibition we are holding a youth artisan market and free art making activities at MAC yapang on Sunday 11 February.

First Class is an annual exhibition celebrating the outstanding work produced by HSC Visual Arts students in the Central Coast and Hunter regions. It is one of the most popular programs in MAC yapang's annual calendar, and in 2024 we will showcase the work of more than 50 local students in the exhibition.

The youth artisan market will include a range of stall holders aged 12 - 24, and visitors will be able to purchase unique locally made hand-crafted goods such as jewellery, textiles, candles, novelty items and more.

Event schedule

9am MAC yapang opens to public
10am - 12pm Free art making activities for young children and families
11am - 2.30pm Youth artisan market
2.30pm First Class 23 official opening proceedings
4pm MAC yapang closes to public

Food and beverage

Local wine, craft beer and non-alcoholic beverage options will be available for purchase from the MAC yapang bar (opens 12.30pm, EFTPOS only).
Light food options will be available for purchase throughout the event.

Getting there and parking

Overflow parking will be available at MAC yapang. Please follow signage and car pool where possible. Overflow parking options will be available from 10am - 4.30pm, and gates will be closed at 4.30pm.

Photography/Videography

Please note, a photographer and videographer will be in attendance at this event and photographs/ video footage obtained may be used for promotional purposes by the Museum of Art and Culture yapang. Please notify a staff member at the event if you do not wish for you or any children in your care to be photographed/ filmed.
