Join us for NAIDOC week. Create story-telling artworks with air-dried clay. Make a wall mask and a personal pendant that represents YOU.

Join us this NAIDOC week for a creative workshop designed for young people aged 10+.

After exploring the exhibitions in the gallery, participants will be encouraged to consider what masks are used for and how they can represent aspects of their identity.

Guided by skilled Artist Educators, students will then be shown how to create a unique "Identity Mask" from clay, exploring techniques such as underglazing and sgriffito. Air-dry clay will be used to ensure each participant will walk away with their own clay masterpeice!

Age Group: 10-17 years
Date & Time: 10am - 12pm, Wednesday 9th or Thursday 10th July
Location: Museum of Art and Culture, yapang
What to bring: Your imagination. All materials will be provided. Participants must wear closed shoes

MAC yapang

The Museum of Art and Culture (MAC yapang) is located at the end of First Street, Booragul, on the edge of Lake Macquarie. MAC has ramp access for wheelchairs and prams, baby changing facilities and accessible toilets.

MAC yapang can be reached easily from the lake foreshore cycleway, the water, or by public transport. There is parking for cars, and buses with accessible spaces available, onsite and adjacent to the Hunter Rowing Club.
