This iteration of Art in Your Community at MAC yapang showcases Toronto Sketchers, a local sketch group from the area who regularly meet on our grounds and surrounds. Each of the 11 artists featured in this exhibition depicts or directly responds to a scene within our beautiful 5 hectares of leafy landscape (or within our walls) in their work.
From the Toronto Sketchers:
"Our group was started by Lyn Wallace in 2016 on the suggestion of Jill Orr, when a group of like-minded people attending her painting workshop at the MAC yapang gallery decided they would like to get together more often.
A small group meets on Tuesday mornings at a coffee shop for wide-ranging discussion and a sketching session. The MAC yapang sculpture park grounds are a favourite inspiration.
There is also a larger online presence, where people can post their current artworks. One of our members collates them into an exhibition on Sundays.
There is a continual change of members who often follow their own artistic practices, in a wide range of mediums. The group is open to anyone who would like to get together – either online or in person – to share their artistic endeavours in a low-key and social environment."
