Kate is an Architect and Artist who is currently living and practising on the Central Coast.

After living in New York and working at Soho House for five years, Kate has returned home to pursue her love of art. Her focus is drawn from observations of her immediate environment and an expression of colours, shapes and fractals that exist within the world.

The artworks included in this Art in Your Community exhibition explore three themes. The Sleeping City: a series of works that express the feeling of living in a city that never sleeps, brought to a halt by the effects of COVID -19. Ephemera which is an observation of light, shadow and negative spaces that interact with everyday objects and how the passing of time morphs these ways of seeing and I Live in the Cloud; a humorous and personal reflection on the digital selfie and the weight these tiny thumbnails carry.

Kate graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and Master of Architecture from the University of Newcastle, Australia. She has been a finalist in several prizes including the Redland Art Award, Boynes Emerging Artist Award and recently had a solo show at Darlinghurst Road Gallery, Sydney.

Kate is the co-curator for the exhibition First Class 22, currently on display at MAC yapang. In 2010 Kate was featured as a finalist in First Class ‘09. Having Kate return to the gallery to curate the exhibition that provided a platform to launch her artistic pathway and career has been a privilege and is an inspiration for the First Class 22 finalists.
