The Archibald Prize is one of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious art awards. Since its inception in 1921, the Prize has been awarded to some of Australia’s most important artists. In 2011 Ben Quilty won it for his portrait of the iconic artist, the late Margaret Olley.
Lake Macquarie is the only gallery in the Hunter to host the hugely popular exhibition this year. An Art Gallery of NSW exhibition toured by Museums and Galleries NSW.
