An Artist Abroad - The Prints of James McNeill Whistler

WHISTLER The Balcony.jpg

Englishman James McNeill Whistler was an inspirational key figure in the European art world of the nineteenth century. Influenced by the French realists, the Dutch, Venetian and Japanese masters, Whistler’s prints are sublime visions of people and the places they inhabit.

Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery is the only venue in New South Wales to host this significant exhibition of around one hundred etchings, lithographs and drypoint works from the National Gallery of Australia’s rich Whistler print collection.
