Memories in the Threads: Mini-quilt Workshop

When fabric tells stories through the art of quilt making.

Do you have scraps of material that hold meaning and stories for you?

Join mad-keen quiltmaker Jo Cooper to learn ways to make a mini contemporary quilt using hand-stitching techniques, and share in the rich tradition of memories that linger in fabrics and handmade domestic objects.

Workshop Materials List:

Please bring:

  • A variety of textile scraps (such as craft leftovers, old clothing or linen), any fibre
  • Yarns or stitching threads (any colour)
  • Hand-stitching needles
  • Scissors
  • Lead pencil
  • Ruler

Optional: A small stretched canvas (around 10cm), for display mounting

Quilt batting supplied

About the Venue:

The Museum of Art and Culture (MAC) is located at the end of First Street, Booragul, on the edge of Lake Macquarie. MAC has ramp access for wheelchairs and prams, baby changing facilities and accessible toilets.

MAC can be reached easily from the lake foreshore cycleway, the water, or by public transport. There is plenty of parking for cars, and buses with accessible spaces available, onsite and adjacent to the Hunter Rowing Club.
