The Museum of Art and Culture, yapang (MAC yapang) is thrilled to announce the finalists for the inaugural yapang Emerging Art Prize.

With a strong number of submissions from right across the country, judge Erin Vink shortlisted a selection of 32 finalists.

The winner and highly commended works will be selected in person by Erin and MAC yapang curator Courtney Wagner before the winner announcement and opening of finalist exhibition on 3 December.

The biennial prize has been developed to celebrate, promote and support emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from across the country.

Lake Macquarie City Council and Create NSW have committed $15,000 to purchase the winning and highly commended works for the MAC yapang collection.

The yapang Emerging Art Prize 2021 finalist exhibition will take place between 4 December 2021 – 20 February 2022.

Shortlisted artworks reflected each artists practice across all media and can take any form, including (without limitation) sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, installation, sound digital, net or live art.
